Blogger's On Strike Again

Well, I've been trying for a day and a half to post an entry about Chet Baker, with four great pictures of him just being Baker. And Blogger won't take my photos. I've republished the index and then the entire blog. Still it refuses. Know that I'm grinding my teeth here, trying to get a message to you. Maybe Bill can help me post tonight. I don't know. I can tell you that it is path to madness. I'm going to go clean the house. Maybe Blogger has peeked into my studio and decided that's what I should be doing instead of talking to you. Well, it worked. People, I know you need your Baker fix. Me, too. Nothing I can do about it, apparently.

The problem is with Blogger creating the smaller "preview" pics that go on the page, leading to the larger pics. It's gone all wonky, creating files that are 0 kb in size. Shazz is going through it too, though we've rigged a workaround.

Basically, if you can upload the photos to your website (or know the names of the full-sized ones that blogger has already uploaded), do this: when you click on the "insert image" button, use the other option: the one to load a graphic from the web. Enter the full URL of the picture (which should be something like http://www.juliezickefoose.com/uploaded_images/something.jpg) and instead of creating a new preview image (which it'll screw up), blogger will just use the same picture, and resize it using web protocols.

Or you can just wait until whatever they screwed up gets fixed.

Julie,

Have a bird question for you. Tonight while running in the park I saw a crow that was dragging its wing. I approached it, and it hopped away. I got a little closer and it was able to fly away a few meters, low to the ground. It was still dragging its wing when it landed. Should I try to catch it and bring it to a rehabber? Or would that further distress it? I thought I'd ask just in case you're checking your blog because our rehab stations here are closed right now.

Thanks,

Dea Lloyd

Ever tried Picasa? That's what I use when Blogger's gone wonky.
